Highland Pines School has lots of holiday spirit! Our tree was decorated with ornaments made by our students, the seniors had the honor of lighting up the tree and everyone was treated with performances by our own Holiday Huskies! The fun also included singing holiday songs and a special appearance by someone very special!
The Fun Club at HPS really knows how to boost staff morale. The soup cook off was deliciously fun and staff enjoyed the thirst quenching surprise passed out by the principals.
HPS celebrates students with good behavior! On Friday a glow party was had for all students with good behavior for the month of October. This month students are working towards making a fun craft with the principals.
Science is fun at HPS! Recently our students learned about chemical bonding and made fluorescent worms. They also learned about gravity with a marble activity. Our staff is great at engaging students during lessons!
The students at HPS were treated with a fantastic performance by the Cass City Marching Band. Their glow number was very enlightening and our students and staff loved it!
The HPS Fall Bazaar is almost here! The staff and students have been working hard to plan and make items to sell. Please join us on November 16th and 17th from 9am - 2pm.
The staff and students at Highland Pines had some Halloween fun today. There was trick or treating and a costume parade.
The Highland Pines Trunk or Treat was a great success! What a great event to have for our students and their families, staff and the community.
Mrs. Driscoll's and Mrs. Dunham's classrooms are piloting a new curriculum called Readtopia this school year. Readtopia is an integrated comprehensive reading curriculum that includes ELA, Math, Social Studies, Life Skills, and Science.
It was a great day for soccer! The HPS Huskies won both of their home games yesterday. Way to go!
Thanks to STEM grants, Bay City State Park hosted two of our classrooms for a memorable field trip. Our staff and students enjoyed a day that included learning about fish, different animal furs, a warm fire and a walk through the Tobico Marsh. Thank you to Jason for providing a great presentation that included indoor fishing with an invitation to return for some outdoor fishing and a roaring campfire.
The students at Highland Pines used their artistic talents to decorate pumpkins for The Tuscola County Pumpkin Festival. Many were recognized for their effort with a Grand Prize, 1st, 2nd or 3rd place win! Here are a few of our artists with their fantastic pumpkins.
The weather was perfect for fieldtrips! Mrs. Gruber's classroom had a fantastic time at Miller Family Orchard and Mr. Lemuel's classroom showed they are not afraid of heights while at the Dow Canopy Walk.
The Highland Pines gym is getting an upgrade. Our students had some fun making their mark before the gym carpet was replaced. The old carpet is gone and new is being installed. Next week we will have our finished project of new carpet and bleachers! Stay tuned....
Friday was the Walk-A-Thon at Highland Pines. It was a great day for students, families and staff to raise money for Special Olympics. Totals of money raised and miles walked will be revealed at the student assembly on Friday.
HPS students had a big treat on Friday. The Caro High School Marching Band performed their halftime show on the Highland Pines soccer field. It was a beautiful day and a fantastic performance!
There is more than one way to learn teamwork. Mr. Lemuel's class is showing a fun way to learn that lesson.
